History of Czech glass bead making dates back to the 9thcentury. In the 13th century glass factories were producing glass of almost clear quality and by 18th century Czech glass and Crystal were known worldwide because of its perfect clarity and luster.
The art of Lampwork glass beads dates back to the 14thcentury. To create these amazing beads, a gas fueled torch is used to melt clear or coloured glass rods. Once in the melted stage, the glass is wound onto a metal rod previously dipped in clay. It is then shaped with tools and decorated (some lampwork beads with silver or 24 carat gold foil).
