About Aquamarine
FACTS
Aquamarine, the birthstone of March with a hardness of 7.5-8, is named from Latin as ‘Water of the Sea’ for it is said to have calmed waves and keep the sailors safe when at sea. It was also considered the most appropriate morning gift for a groom to give his bride following their wedding. It is the blue variety of Beryle, with the most important mining areas being based in Brazil and Russia. The largest gem-quality aquamarine mined to date is 19 inches long.
COLOUR
The colour range for Aquamarines are vast shades of blue ranging from pale blue to deep blue colours (these being most desired and of highest value).

CARE
Aquamarines may be near the top end of the Mohs scale at 7.5-8 (ranged from 0-10) however, most gemstones will scuff over time with everyday wear, especially if you wear them while doing heavy work, at gym or gardening (which we strongly advise to remove them for).
