Jewellery repairs
Jewellery repairs in Brisbane – onsite, in our workshop
We offer in-house repairs and you can speak to our jewellers directly. Before giving you a quote we will require to inspect your jewellery in person, unfortunately we are unable to quote from images (emailed or texted to us.) If you are located out of Brisbane, please get in touch with us first.
Due to our workload, we can no longer offer same day repairs. If you are not pressed with time, we are more than happy to give advice and repair your jewellery within 3-5 days depending on each job, as some are very complex and require more time.
Our jewellery repairs include

Gemstone or diamond replacement
Loss of a stone is usually associated with a damaged setting or a broken claw. We can source a matching diamond or gemstone, or have one cut to fit your setting. We recommend regular checks of your jewellery which is free of charge, so pop in and let us inspect the condition of your jewellery. We will advise you if any work is needed, so you will have piece of mind. If your jewellery is catching on clothes it could mean that your claw is lifted, stop wearing your ring and have us inspect it before you could loose your stone.

Ring re-tipping (claw replacement or build up)
Over time, the claws on your settings may wear down. Usually the most exposed are the outer claws and the claws on the highest settings. We offer full claw re-tips, or building up of claws. Each ring is different and it also depends on how badly the claws are worn. Our jewellers will examine your jewellery and advise you if any work needs to be done.

Gemstone re-polishing or re-cutting
Due to the nature and hardness of gemstones, many end up with scratches of scuff marks over time.
We offer gem re-polishing and re-cutting and our experienced jewellers will give you advise if re-polishing is a better option than replacing the stone.
Some lower cost gemstones may be cheaper to replace, than re-polish unless they have a sentimental value to you.

Ring reshaping
Every so often we have customers walking in with rings they have driven over or got caught and stretched out of shape. If you have an accident and the result is a squashed or stretched ring, carefully remove it if possible and bring it in for us to repair it. If you are unable to remove the ring come and see us or in urgent cases go to an emergency.
In most cases we should be able to repair it to its original shape, but it depends on the extent of the damage.

Ring re-shanking
Replacing a section of a worn out band on a ring is called re-shanking. We offer a quarter, half or full re-shank, depending on each ring.
Our jewellers will give you advise on what your ring needs and explain the reasons behind it.

Chain and bracelet repairs
We offer repairs on chain finals, safety chains on bracelets and all other repairs including replacing of clasps.
We provide a quote on the spot and fast turnaround if necessary.

Millgrain and re-engraving details
Over time fine details like millgrain, brushed finish or engraving on your rings may start wearing off. When you bring your jewellery to us for a service, we will restore your rings to their original look.

Rhodium plating
White gold jewellery requires periodical rhodium plating, to keep it looking flawlessly white. With every day wear, your plating will wear off and it will be mostly noticeable on the bottom of your band.
It is up to you how often you have your rings re-plated, but we recommend once per year or 18 months depending on how often you wear your rings. If you are unsure, come in and we will advise you if your rings are due to be plated. Sometimes our ultrasonic and steam pressure cleaner is enough to keep them looking new.

“I certainly would recommend your fantastic and high quality Service to any one. Your care, attention and craftsmanship to my ring repairs was beyond compare.
I was well informed of all costs to be expected, before the work was started. Tereza kept me posted with photos of all stages of the work as it as being carried out. Your personal care was fantastic and workmanship is superb.
Thank you so much.”
Gina
“Amazing service every time I need my jewellery repaired or just polished. And the peices you’ve created for me over the years are exquisite. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Thank you to the team!“
Nazira

“I was looking for a family business built on loyalty and trust. Reading the Bentley De Lisle website, this felt like the right place to take my 2 broken chains, a ring with a missing claw, and my husband’s lopsided wedding ring which hadn’t fitted his finger for several years.
The value of these pieces was essentially sentimental.
Tereza and David treated us courteously, giving very reasonable quotes for the repair work.
The quality of the workmanship was impeccable. From dull and ordinary, the rings now gleam and look almost new. Hard to believe the transformation.
After such a positive experience, I wouldn’t consider going anywhere else.“

Very special restoration
Why did you choose us?
The fact that I was able to talk directly to the people who would be working on the ring is incredibly important. Because my ring is of great sentimental importance to me and my family, it was important that I have direct contact with the person who would do the repairs. In other jewellery shops, I was only in contact with salespeople and never the jewellers directly. So when I first arrived at Bentley De Lisle, I was overjoyed to discuss about the ring directly with David, who did the restorations, and to discuss about the ring’s history, quality and design.
Very much so. I came in to have my ring cleaned and the claws around the centrepiece tightened because the sapphire was moving a bit. Thanks to David’s expert knowledge, he remade the claws so as to retain the authenticity of the ring’s period design while making some minor adjustments that secured the sapphire’s placement in the ring. I’m so glad with the improvement of the ring’s appearance and durability.
I searched for some reputable jewellers online. Specifically, I was looking for a jeweller that specialised in antiques and repairs.
I was really fortunate to come across Bentley De Lisle as they have proven to be extremely capable in providing the best quality service and working with you to pay homage to your jewellery. In the end, it was evident that to them, the items that they work on are more than just objects but also historical wonders. I would like to deeply thank Bentley De Lisle for the incredible service provided.
